I have a larger than life personality and hoping to find a family who likes my type of dog. I am ready for action and require lots of aerobic outlets to keep me happy. I love to run and stretch my legs often. I also enjoy some mental challenges and I respond very well using positive reinforcement training. I would really enjoy training classes and, as a Dakin adopter, you get a discount on classes. I can be very focused about my ball and quite vocal in my excitement. In fact, I'm somewhat of a talkative girl in general. I have a lot to say about life. The training staff has been helping me learn how to polish good behaviors, including sitting quietly before my ball is thrown. They would be happy to show you what I have learned.
My family fell upon hard times. My canine buddy and I ended up at Dakin via animal control. My pal has been adopted and now I’m here all alone. I’d love to go home too.
Save the Date - Valley Gives is one week away, 12-12-13! Meet Dakin’s Doug the Dog and Katie the Cat and follow their adventures on Dakin’s FB page, website and YouTube (Dakinspringfield)! They’re BIG and counting down to the BIG day too!
Suggested kids age range: 13 and up, may go slightly lower dependent on meet
Dogs: I prefer to be the only dog in the home
Cats: yes has a history of living with cats
Exercise: Low to moderate
I am a bit shy at first but with a slow, gentle, and patient approach I will warm up and accept a friendly petting. I am happy and polite meeting dogs on leash but prefer to be the only dog in my home since I don't like sharing my things with them.
My previous family says once I get comfortable, I love snuggling. They also said I really love getting brushed. I will need an experienced adopter, as I still struggle with housetraining. I am willing to work on this with someone who will help me.
Profile: BellaSera is an indoor cat only. She lived with a small child, cat and a dog. Her favorite toy is Little Fuzzy Mice. She is litter boxed trained. She enjoys cuddling and sleeping with her family at night. BellaSera gets a little nervous meeting brand new animals but will warm up if the introductions are done right. The best way to introduce a new cat with any existing animal is to go slow and let the animals adjust.
